Application for SpiRIT Writing Competition

For 10th - 11th grade students with a love for writing.

Session I: October 3-December 5, 2025

The SpiRIT Writing competition is for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in grades 10 - 11 as of Fall 2025.  To participate, students can submit a writing project of up to 2,000 words based on the theme of the competition. 

This year theme is "Rooted & Rising: Where I come from, Where I'm going". Choose a prompt to answer below:

1. 1) How has your background shaped the person you are today, and your dreams for the future? Reflect on the lessons, values, or people who've impacted your journey.
2. 2) What legacy do you hope to leave behind, and how does your story begin now? Think about how your actions, voice, or values will affect your community or the next generation.
